Officials have identified the pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday (Oct. 22) in Mountain View as a Los Altos resident.
The victim is Michelle Montalvo, 54, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
Traffic on El Monte Avenue between Marich Way and El Camino Real resumed at 2 p.m. after Mountain View Police officers completed their investigation into the crash.
The accident occurred at 6:38 a.m. when a vehicle struck Montalvo near the intersection of El Monte Avenue and Marich Way, according to police. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, and the driver of the vehicle is reportedly cooperating with investigators. Montalvo was in critical condition when emergency officials transported her to a local hospital. Police announced her dead at approximately 12:30 p.m. No other injuries were reported.
“At this time, the cause of the collision and fault remain under investigation,” wrote Sgt. Saul Jaeger in an email to the Town Crier.
