At the 22nd Annual “Holiday Stroll” in downtown Los Altos – a musical and illuminated event which heralds in the start of the local Christmas shopping season – hundreds came out Friday ready to make their first holiday buys.

Liz Williams, marketing and events manager for host Los Altos Village Association, said gift shops, restaurants and galleries were jam-packed along Main and State streets.

“We like people to shop small and engage with the community,” she said. “This is how you kick off the holiday season.”

More than 30 businesses stayed open later than usual, embellished with nine live music acts and glittering light displays across the downtown.

Nivali Vore of Los Altos said her children were having fun – and she could see why.

“It’s always so festive. This is how you get into the holiday spirit.”
