An alert Mountain View man helped police track down his own stolen vehicle after he noticed the SUV drive past him Wednesday (Jan. 3).
The victim was traveling along El Camino Real near The Americana at approximately 1:45 p.m. Wednesday when he saw his Land Rover Discovery, a vehicle he reported stolen in late December, according to the Mountain View Police Department. The man called police dispatch, and officers began looking for his SUV, which they ultimately spotted near the intersection of El Camino Real and Highway 237. They stopped the driver, 33-year-old transient Joon Kim, near where El Camino meets Mountain View Avenue, and charged him with possession of stolen property, vehicle theft and parole violation. Kim was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.
