Two men attacked and severely injured a Los Altos man in his 40s after giving him a ride home early Tuesday morning, a police spokesman said. The man was hospitalized with major injuries to his shoulders, face and eyes, according to police.

Los Altos police arrested and booked San Jose resident Shiseop Kim, 22, for battery, violation of probation and resisting arrest and 37-year-old Si Woong Chang for battery at approximately 2:46 a.m. May 10, police Capt. Andy Galea said.

Galea said Wednesday morning that police have yet to determine the motive behind the attack.

“No one’s saying anything,” Galea said of the suspects and the victim.

According to a police report, Kim and Chang offered the victim, whose identity is being withheld, a ride home to the 1400 block of Fallen Leaf Lane after the three left a club in Santa Clara. Galea said the victim apparently did not know the suspects and was waiting for a taxicab when he agreed to go with the men.

Upon arriving in Los Altos, Galea said the suspects began attacking the victim. A neighbor called in the disturbance, to which police responded and detained the suspects, eventually sending them to the San Jose Main jail. Galea said the injuries were non-life-threatening.

“There might’ve been something more to this,” Galea said. “If there is, we don’t know what it is yet.”
