Los Altos officials are scheduled to temporarily close Main Street Friday (Oct. 19) to accommodate the Los Altos High School homecoming parade.
Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between noon and 2:30 p.m., according to the Los Altos Village Association. The parade is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. Student participants will stage at Lincoln Park, cross Foothill Expressway and march down Main Street.
The Mountain View Los Altos Union High School District cancelled the 2017 Los Altos High homecoming parade – and postponed the football game – due to concerns about the health effects of smoke from the Northern California wildfires. The fires, in Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, Lake and Solano counties, burned more than 240,000 acres, claimed 44 lives and destroyed nearly 9,000 buildings, according to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.
The Los Altos High School homecoming football game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills. The Eagles will take on the Gunn High School Titans.
