Police arrested Los Altos resident Ethan Maxwell Greer, 23, Thursday on charges of possessing child sexual abuse material after officers allegedly found incriminating items at the suspect’s residence.
The Los Altos Police Department received a tip that someone was in possession of child sexual abuse material, and the investigation led to suspect Greer, Det. Sgt. Steven Spillman said.
With assistance from the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the department filed a search warrant for the home Greer resides in with family members on the 500 block of Cecelia Court, where the child sexual abuse material was uncovered.
Greer was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail but is no longer in custody, according to Spillman. The suspect’s arraignment is schedule for July 31.
Officers had been investigating Greer since 2022, he added.
“At this time, we do not have any evidence to suggest (Greer)was sexually abusing children,” Spillman said. “Our investigation remains ongoing.”
