Investigating officers have identified the victims of last week’s fatal crash on Interstate 280 in Palo Alto as an octogenarian Los Altos Hills couple.
Husband and wife Rudolph and Gloria Cazanjian died from injuries they received in the single-vehicle accident April 5, according to California Highway Patrol reports.
The Cazanjians were traveling northbound on 280 toward Sand Hill Road when driver Rudolph Cazanjian, 87, suddenly veered the couple’s 1998 Toyota Avalon to the left, where it collided with the center median and overturned. According to California Highway Patrol Officer Arturo Montiel, it appears Gloria Cazanjian, 83, may have been unrestrained and was ejected from the car. She died at the scene, and Rudolph Cazanjian succumbed to his injuries at Stanford Hospital that evening.
Gloria Cazanjian was a member and former dean of chairwomen for the Federated Woman’s Club of Los Altos.
The collision remains under investigation. Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the crash. Witnesses are asked to contact Officer Evyn Roman at 369-6261.
