Robert Quinn, president of the El Camino Health Medical Network, died suddenly less than a month after his appointment, according to El Camino Health.

Quinn was in his third week of serving the El Camino Health Medical Network before he died unexpectedly Dec. 22. He’s survived by his wife Polly and children – Emily, Matthew and Olivia. He was 63.

Before joining El Camino Health, he served as Dignity Health Medical Foundation Chief Executive Officer for four years. He had previously served in board and advisory roles for the Dignity Health Medical Foundation and Community Health Organizations for nearly 30 years while maintaining a psychiatric practice and serving as a medical doctor and director at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz.

Quinn also served as president of Santa Cruz Medical Group before becoming CEO of the Dignity Health Medical Foundation.

His first day at El Camino Health was Dec. 2. El Camino Health decided on Quinn because of his expertise and experience, which would allow him to lead the El Camino Health Medical Network – the organization that supports and provides resources to El Camino Health Medical Network physicians in providing personalized care to patients while maintaining a flexible private practice –  effectively.

“Dr. Quinn has a deep passion for improving healthcare delivery and fostering strong relationships within the medical community, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to our team as network president,” Dan Woods, chief executive officer at El Camino Health, was quoted in a press release announcing Quinn’s appointment. “Dr. Quinn brings extensive experience in healthcare leadership, and he will be a key driver in ensuring that the El Camino Health Medical Network continues its accelerated expansion and remains a trusted and innovative healthcare provider.”

In a Jan. 6 El Camino Health statement on Quinn’s passing, he was described as a dedicated leader “who had a deep passion for improving healthcare delivery and fostering strong relationships within the medical community.”
