The El Camino Health Medical Network – which connects various independent and affiliated specialists and physicians to El Camino Health and its community members – recently announced the appointment of a new president.

Dr. Alan Muster, hailing from the Wellstar Medical Group Specialty Division in Marietta, Georgia, will provide direction and leadership to the independent practice association, medical group and physician alignment strategy after he takes on the role Nov. 17. He will specifically be responsible for overseeing primary and specialty practices and heavily influence the integration and development of long-term strategic initiatives throughout the El Camino Health Medical Network.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Alan Muster to El Camino Health Medical Network at a pivotal time in our growth as we expand to bring high-quality, personalized care closer to where people live,” Dan Woods, chief executive officer at El Camino Health, stated in the release. “Alan is a proven leader whose passion for people and healthcare aligns perfectly with our mission and his commitment to patient-centered care will help us strengthen physician partnerships, expand access, and continue delivering trusted, compassionate care throughout Silicon Valley.”

While part of the Wellstar Medical Group Specialty Division, Muster directed operations, physician leadership and financial performance for a team of more than 3,000, including 400 advanced practice professionals, 550 surgical and medical specialists and 2,100 covering 36 specialties. The El Camino Health Medical Network includes 300 specialist and primary care physicians across Santa Clara County.

In addition to a medical degree attained at Rutgers University, New Jersey Medical School and a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from Brown University, he acquired a Master of Business and Health Administration from Georgia State University.

“I’m thrilled and honored to serve as medical network president of such a highly esteemed and accomplished healthcare system,” Muster stated in the release. “As a physician and healthcare leader, my focus has always been on delivering exceptional healthcare and improving patient outcomes. El Camino Health is well positioned to help improve the lives of those we serve in the South Bay and greater Silicon Valley communities, and I look forward to working alongside a dedicated leadership team.”

Muster’s appointment came approximately nine months after his predecessor, Dr. Robert Quinn, died just three weeks into his tenure as president.
