Signs of the times

Anyone who has ventured downtown and watched the interaction of two-footers, four-paws, 18-wheelers, strollers with precious cargo, assistive walkers, automobiles from three-wheelers to Ferraris knows that the confluence of Main Street and Second can cause confusion on the rules of full stop and go.

The corner of Main and Second next to Starbucks defines the  daily dose of double parking in red zones in order to grab those luscious lattes that were mobile ordered.

Depending on the time of day, the area is a maze of Maseratis, Mazdas, Teslas, SUVs and Ubers doubling up and blocking the block.

The one sign that said “No Parking” is long gone on the pole next to Starbucks on Second.

A few weeks ago, I started to see some new signs were put in place by a secret poster. Some of them actually stayed up for more than a week.

Video surveillance showed that instances of double parking went down by 1.3 %
