The Los Altos Senior Center’s inaugural open house, held July 8, drew approximately 150 people, according to center coordinator Candace Avina, who received assistance from nearly 25 volunteers.

The free event featured booths offering information on classes and activities, along with class demonstrations – including bocce ball and pingpong – and refreshments.

“The most popular events were the resource tables and instructor demos,” Avina said.

Several local groups and organizations – including the Santa Clara County Fire Department, the Monkey Toy Ladies, Los Altos Legacies and Senior New Ways – participated in the open house to promote their services.

The Los Altos Senior Center is located at 97 Hillview Ave. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays. The Grant Park Senior Drop-In Program, 1575 Holt Ave., is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays.
