Peter Sturges passed away on July 6, 2026, from pneumonia, following a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He is survived by Debbie, his beloved wife of 26 years; his two cherished daughters, Izobel and Cianna; his siblings, John, Jennifer, and Matt, his brother and sisters in-law, a large, loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who held him dear.

The third child of John and Susan Sturges, Peter was born at Whiteman Air Force Base. As the son of an Air Force officer, he moved frequently during his father’s career, calling Los Angeles, Vandenberg Air Force Base, Sunnyvale, and Dayton, Ohio, home before the family finally settled in Los Altos in 1974. Peter played both football and tennis at Awalt High School before graduating with the class of 1976.

Following high school, Peter pursued his passion for music, studying at Cabrillo and Foothill Colleges and spending time at UCSB. An accomplished guitarist and songwriter, he loved playing for family and friends, and he frequently shared his musical gifts with the community at local open mic nights.

Later in life, Peter developed a unique expertise as a cheesemonger. He brought his knowledge and passion to several local institutions, including the Milk Pail Dairy and Draeger’s Market, as well as various markets in the greater Las Vegas area.

In 2000, Peter found the true love of his life, Debbie Renacia. They were married soon after and moved to Las Vegas where they raised their two amazing daughters, Izobel and Cianna. Above all else, Peter’s greatest joy in life was simply spending time with his family.

Peter will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his love for tennis, playing the guitar, body surfing in Santa Cruz, and the peaceful days spent with extended family at Crystal Lake in Northern Michigan. May his legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness be carried forward by those who cherish his memory, and may he rest in everlasting peace.

A celebration of life was held in Las Vegas on July 26th and was attended by many family and friends that loved him dearly.
