Bay FC head coach Albertin Montoya will step down from his position at the end of the 2025 season, the club announced Sept. 8.
Montoya, a Los Altos High graduate, was named the first Bay FC coach in its history in 2023 and led the team to the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) playoff quarterfinals in its inaugural season.
“I have so much love for these players, staff and fans. We’ve built a culture and a style of play that I believe will compete for championships for years to come,” Montoya said in a press release. “I want to thank everyone at the Bay FC organization for their support. I look forward to finishing this season strong and for this club continuing to accomplish great things.”
Montoya grew up in Mountain View and played for the U.S. youth national teams and the San Jose Clash in Major League Soccer before coaching in the now-defunct Women’s Professional Soccer League and serving as interim head coach for the NWSL’s Washington Spirit. Montoya is also on the Mountain View Los Altos Soccer Club Board of Directors.
The NWSL regular season ends Nov. 2, with the NWSL Championship Nov. 22.
