More than 40 neighbors on Arroyo Road in Los Altos met for a block party Sept. 6, marking a long-lived tradition of connecting with neighbors. The annual block party takes advantage of the cul-de-sac at the end of Arroyo Road, and features potluck salads, appetizers and desserts, a gas fired grill for sausages and kebabs, games for the kids, and a wine-tasting contest for the adults. For the last several years, the Los Altos Fire Department has also made a guest appearance, allowing the children a chance to sit in the firetruck and ring the bell.
“It’s all about the community,” said co-organizer Andy Maisel. “When we moved here in 1986, It was already going on and we were told we had to take part. We’ve been doing it ever since.”
