As part of the 21st annual Los Altos High School Writers Week, Andrew Sean Greer, author of “The Confessions of Max Tivoli,” is scheduled to speak about his award-winning novel 7:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at the school’s Eagle Theater.

The public is invited to read Greer’s book, chosen as a Today Show Book Club pick, and hear the author speak.

Described as “enchanting” (John Updike), “dazzling” (The New York Times) and “brilliantly conceived” (Los Angeles Times), “The Confessions of Max Tivoli” tells the unlikely story of a man who ages backwards physically – as he grows older, he changes in appearance from an old man to a young child.

In a San Francisco Chronicle review, reviewer Edward Guthmann described “The Confessions of Max Tivoli” as “a wondrous novel, shimmering with simultaneous chords of sadness, loss and enchantment. (It) fascinates in its textured view of pre-quake San Francisco. … (Greer has) arrived, brilliantly, with an unforgettable novel.”

During the week, writers discuss their life and work and explain the writing process of professional writers. Students have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss “the life of a writer.”

Donations to support Writers Week are welcomed. Copies of the book will be sold at the event, and there will be a book signing at the end of the evening.

Los Altos High School’s Eagle Theater is located at 201 Almond Ave.
