Palo Alto Players’ longtime artistic director is stepping down.

Patrick Klein, who has been with the theater company for nearly 15 years, plans to end his tenure at the end of August, according to an Aug. 15 press release from Palo Alto Players.

“While it’s tremendously bittersweet to be departing from what has become my second home over the last 14 years,” Klein said, “I step away knowing the future is incredibly bright for Palo Alto Players.”

Klein added that he will continue to be an avid supporter and patron and plans to work on Palo Alto Players’ advisory board for the next few months.

“I can say with complete confidence that while we’ve done amazing work in my time, the best is yet to come for Palo Alto Players,” Klein said.

A successor has not been named, but Palo Alto Players “will continue to be ably led by our longtime managing director, Elizabeth Santana, who has worked shoulder-to-shoulder with Patrick for nearly a decade,” according to the release.
