While we all want to look like Cinderella on our wedding days, not many of us have her perfect figure. Dress designers suggest brides be mindful of their body types when choosing gowns.

Full figure

Yes: Accentuate your body type with a ball gown style or A-line skirt. Gowns that are fitted at the shoulders and gracefully flare slightly to a fuller hem can disguise large hips. An off-the-shoulder neckline will balance your top half with your bottom half.

No: Stay away from V-necks or deep plunges if you are very large busted. Do not choose empire waists or sheaths.

Hourglass shape

Yes: A-lines or full drop-waist dresses will take a bit off your bottom. A sweetheart or V-neck will highlight cleavage and draw attention to your face without overpowering the rest of you.

No: Do not wear empire or ball gown styles.

Pear shape

Yes: A basque waistline (two inches below the natural waist) with an A-line skirt or ball gown will lengthen your look. Detail at the bodice or shoulders such as lace or pearl accents can give the bustline a larger look. Strapless, softly rounded or scooped necklines work best.

No: Anything body-hugging should be avoided and stay away from deep V-necklines.
