The National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) will bestow its St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award for ongoing leadership and philanthropic contributions to Chuck and Nan Geschke, longtime Los Altos residents.

The Geshckes are among five Seton Award winners honored at this year’s event. The presentation is scheduled Oct. 1 during the 22nd annual Seton Awards ceremony at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center in Washington, D.C.

The NCEA’s highest accolade, named in honor of the first native-born American saint (1774-1821), recognizes significant contributions to Catholic education.

According to the NCEA, the contributions of the Charles M. and Nancy A. Geschke Foundation underscore the importance of the well-being and education of the nation’s youth and of keeping Catholic schools vital and available for the next generation.

Through their support of the Endowed Faculty Fund, the construction of the Geschke Learning Resource Center and Charles’ role as the inaugural holder of the Rossi Entrepreneurial Chair at the University of San Francisco, NCEA officials said the Geschkes have demonstrated their commitment to advancing education.

Charles co-founded Adobe Systems with John Warnock and built it into one of the world’s largest software companies.

Now co-chairman of Adobe’s board of directors, he also serves on the boards of several educational institutions and arts and nonprofit organizations.

The Los Altos Town Crier named the honored the Geschkes with its Los Altans of the Year award in 2003.
