Drawn2Art features wildlife presentations

Drawn2Art has scheduled a nature-themed student art show and wildlife presentations Saturday at its Los Altos studio, 941 Fremont Ave.

The event will showcase how the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley is helping injured animals in the area and explain how attendees can help support the organization.

Ages 4-7 are welcome from 1-2:30 p.m., and ages 8 and up from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Families with students in both age groups can pick either time frame to attend.

Wildlife presentations are set for 1:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

The festivities will include refreshments and activities, while supplies last.

Drawn2Art teaches a fine-art drawing and painting program that offers beginning, intermediate and advanced levels, focusing on individualized instruction suited to students’ needs and interests.

Subject matter including still life, landscapes, the figure, cartooning and animals are taught in a realistic way and with a classical approach to painting and drawing. Drawn2Art teaches students to work with graphite, pastels, colored pencils, pen and ink, charcoal, watercolors, acrylics, oil, gauche and more.

The deadline for submissions is Sunday.

History Museum highlights ‘Camelot’

The Los Altos History Museum’s latest exhibition, “One Brief Shining Moment: JFK’s Camelot in Early Los Altos,” is on display in the J. Gilbert Smith House gallery through June 11.

Jacqueline Kennedy first coined the term “Camelot” to refer to Kennedy and his administration’s courage and wisdom.

“Many people viewed the JFK administration as the ideal government, indicative of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table,” said exhibition curator Jordan Grealish. “Hopes for a government where people of many different talents came together to serve the public with honor and high ideals was also reflected in the early days of Los Altos.”

Visitors can view Kennedy memorabilia – including a signed letter from the president and a hat from his campaign – and government documents and photos of glamorous social engagements from Los Altos in the 1960s.

The Los Altos History Museum is located at 51 S. San Antonio Road. Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays. Admission is free.
