Mariano Castro Elementary School in the Mountain View-Whisman School District needs tutors for Spanish immersion and English-only classes to help students prepare for the required standardized tests this year. Adults and high school students are asked to volunteer at least one hour a week to help a child at the school.
“While many of our schools can benefit from tutoring, the school in crisis right now is Castro,” said Lesli Downey of the Parent-Teacher-Student Association.
In Castro’s dual immersion enrichment program students learn to read, write and speak fluently in both English and Spanish.
For more information or to volunteer, call the Castro School office at 526-3590 or e-mail Nan Recker at [email protected].
