Executive directors of the Los Altos/Mountain View branch of the American Association of University Women attended the opening day of “Rise Up! The Fight for Women’ Suffrage,” the indoor exhibition at the Los Altos History Museum, Oct. 15.
Branch members Doreen Cohen and Claire Noonan first met with museum director Elisabeth Ward last December to suggest the exhibition, and several branch members served on the advisory committee for the project.
“Rise Up!” commemorates the 100th anniversary of the U.S. Constitution’s 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote in national elections. The exhibition focuses on women from the Los Altos area who were involved with the early suffrage movement. The exhibition is on display through Feb. 21.
