Los Altos police arrested a San Jose man the morning of May 2 after a traffic stop for multiple vehicle equipment violations revealed a felony warrant, a “large quantity” of drugs and other incriminating evidence in the vehicle.

Los Altos police pulled over the motorist at 2:01 a.m. for health and safety code violations related to his vehicle, according to the May 2 Los Altos Police log. Police discovered the 48-year-old motorist had an active felony warrant issued by the San Jose Police Department, according to a post on the Los Altos Police Department’s Facebook page.

In a subsequent search of the man’s vehicle, officers found methamphetamine and other controlled substances, cash amounting to $2,900 and a cellphone and notebook with phone numbers.

In addition to the outstanding felony warrant, the man was arrested without incident for possession of a controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell. He was then booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail, according to the Facebook page post.
