Charities Housing is posed to break ground Feb. 22 on its latest Mountain View housing development, 1265 Montecito Ave. The development will include affordable housing for those earning between 30-50% of the area median income.
The development will include 84 income-restricted units, ranging from studios to three-bedroom homes, and a three-bedroom staff unit.
“We are thrilled to break ground on this development, which represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide safe, affordable housing options for those in need,” said Mark Mikl, executive director of Charities Housing, in a press release. “This new development in Mountain View will not only address the pressing demand for affordable housing but also contribute to the overall strength and vitality of the community.”
After the development is completed, unit residents will have access to onsite laundry, resident services and property management, ground-floor parking, outdoor space and a community room.
The housing development is the result of a partnership with the city of Mountain View, Charities Housing and Housing Trust Silicon Valley, Destination: Home, Santa Clara County and the Santa Clara County Housing Authority and is part of Charities Housing’s goal of addressing the Bay Area’s affordable housing crisis.
“Growing the affordable housing stock in Mountain View is incredibly important to our city council and community,” Mountain View Mayor Pat Showalter said in a press release. “We are proud to have partnered with Charities Housing on this project to bring additional affordable housing options to our city, including units for extremely low-income families, veterans and those needing rapid rehousing. This project helps Mountain View continue to advance its priority of being a ‘community for all.’”
