A stabbing that led to the temporary closure of Phyllis Avenue in Mountain View Monday night (Feb. 27) has resulted in attempted murder charges for a Palo Alto man and hospitalization for the victim.

Mountain View Police detectives arrested Paul Goldman, 55, and he is being held without bail at the Santa Clara County Jail, according to a department press release. As of Wednesday (March 1) afternoon, the department had not identified the victim or released any information about his or her status other than to report the person suffered from at least one stab wound.
The incident happened shortly before 10 p.m. in the 1100 block of Phyllis, and the road was closed between Hans Avenue and Pamela Drive until at least 11:35 p.m., according to police reports. Detectives detained and arrested Goldman as he attempted to leave the area.
Goldman and the victim “did know one another, however this was an isolated incident and there is no threat whatsoever to public safety,” according to the release.
