Los Altos School District officials are scheduled this week to deliver 56 pink slips to classified employees, equivalent to eliminating 28.24 full-time positions. The layoffs are part of the district’s plan to cut $4.5 million from its budget to deal with a $6.5 million budget gap. The layoffs eliminate hours or positions for specialists in music, visual arts, physical education, technology, science, special education, the library and more. District officials said these positions may still be saved, but legal requirements make it necessary to deliver the pink slips this week. Read the May 18 Town Crier for more information.
