The following information was taken from the meeting of the Los Altos School District Board of Trustees on July 21.

Health funds from County

The district will receive a portion of Santa Clara County’s one-time $125,333 allocation for the Mountain View Healthy Ventures’ School-Child Health Project, an organization which provides health services to children in the Mountain View, Whisman and Los Altos Elementary school districts.

Construction

Roof repair work at Blach, Bullis, Covington and Egan schools is nearly completed. The district accepted a bid of $149,210 from Randy’s Roofing last June to repair portions of rooftops where bare wood was exposed. The project was funded by borrowing money from Measure A funds.

Field Renovations

Due to renovations, school playing fields at Blach and Egan schools will be off limits until late August.

Randy Kenyon, assistant superintendent of business services, said the work is essentially finished, but the re-seeded areas need time to grow. The district has replaced sprinkler heads, aerated, rolled and eliminated weeds.

He said the project cost $5,000 less than the $30,000 originally anticipated.
