Los Altos Troop 33 highlighted five exceptional local Scouts who recently achieved the prestigious Eagle Scout rank, the highest honor awarded by the Boy Scouts of America.
Scouting welcomes both girls and boys, and these dedicated young men exemplify leadership, perseverance and community service. Their accomplishments were celebrated at an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony on Sept. 20, and we are excited to recognize their achievements and the bright futures that lie ahead.
Soveen Agarwal, a current senior at Mountain View High School, recognized the critical need for reliable student technology at MVHS. He organized the refurbishment of more than 500 Chromebooks to ensure all students had access to dependable devices for the 2025/26 school year. His effort fostered a more equitable and productive learning environment for his peers.
Varchas Athreya, who graduated from Monta Vista High School, built benches and a custom-designed display case for Our City Forest, a nonprofit that advocates for urban forestry. A local tree nursery in San Jose contributed greenery and beautification to the neighborhood. Our City Forest had a need for additional infrastructure in the previously neglected education center.
Jack Boublik-Whiteley, a junior at Los Altos High School, recognized the growing issue of homelessness in the area and combined his passion for science and helping others to coordinate donations and assembled 250 first aid and hygiene kits for vulnerable populations in San Jose. The kits included hygiene items and medical supplies, providing essential support through a partnership with the local nonprofit organization CityTeam. Jack plans to attend university in the fall of 2027, studying science and eventually medicine.
Frederick Cieslicki, a MVHS senior, chose to support his former elementary school, Loyola, by transforming its neglected garden. He cleared weeds, built a new workbench and created shelving to revitalize the space, providing a meaningful outdoor learning environment for students and the community. Frederick is a senior at MVHS and plans to attend university in the fall of 2026, studying business or economics.
Utsav Lal, a student at Proof School in San Francisco, worked to support solitary bees by building bee habitats and raising awareness about their importance. He constructed 20 bee houses, which have been installed at schools in Los Altos and Mountain View to help expand and sustain local bee populations, ultimately benefiting the ecosystem. Utsav plans to attend college in the fall of 2026 to study mathematics.
We congratulate these remarkable Scouts on their outstanding achievements and look forward to seeing the incredible impact they will continue to make in their communities and beyond.
