A wood door is more than a simple gateway between the outside world and your home. In the hands of expert artisans, the characteristics of wood can enhance a home’s beauty and charm.
Premier Door Services Inc. fashions wood doors that do just that. Using a skillful combination of quality materials, expert craftsmanship and unique designs, entry doors can become works of art. Premier’s display room is the ultimate resource for learning about reliable entry and interior doors.
“Most of the people looking for entry doors make their selections from the floor room,” said President John Sjoberg. “We can make any door fit a designer or architect’s drawings.”
Sjoberg said the beginnings are simple: Start with only top quality wood, craft it and work from there.
There are many components, which can be individually selected in order to heighten a distinctive statement: The casing acts as a frame and complements the door’s architectural style; Transom glass lets light in from above without losing privacy; Sidelights create a dramatic effect and give doors more presence; The hardware adds another custom touch that defines individual taste. Together these elements form an enchanting entry.
The business started in San Jose seven years ago as Southern Lumber Co. Premier has five partners with more than 100 years experience among them. Three years ago they moved to Los Altos.
“We can replicate existing doors or custom build per your design and style,” Sjoberg said. “Our products are used in restoring traditional houses and historical buildings as well as new constructions. We custom build modern wood doors as well. We work from samples or drawings and take pride in continuing the craftsmanship of fine millwork in modern living.”
The most popular trend in current architectural selections is the Mediterranean or Tuscan door. Once a selection is made, Premier offers full installation and finishing service.
