Speed limit increase ahead on Cuesta

The Los Altos City Council is scheduled at its Tuesday (March 28) meeting to consider raising the speed limit on Cuesta Drive from 25 mph to 30 mph.

Although raising the limit appears counterintuitive to improving safety, city officials said the speed limit increase will allow police officers to use radar, which they claim is one of the “safest and most effective methods by which officers can enforce speed limits.

The speed limit increase would apply to one segment of Cuesta, between Springer Road and El Monte Avenue. The increase would be in place for one year.
