California State Senator Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) is scheduled to host his semiannual “Education Update” meeting for local school board members, superintendents, teachers, parents and other education advocates 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday in the Palo Alto Unified School District Board Room, 25 Churchill Ave.
As a member of the Senate Education Committee and the Senate Budget Subcommittee on Education, and as chairman of the new Senate Select Committee on California’s Master Plan for Education, Simitian will provide an update on K-12 education funding and policy proposals pending in Sacramento. He will then open the floor to questions, concerns and comments.
“Our schools face tremendous challenges in these tight budget times,” Simitian said. “These ‘Education Updates’ give me an opportunity to know what local education advocates are thinking, and what matters most to them. Knowing that helps me better serve our local schools and kids.”
The event is free and open to the public. To RSVP or request more information, call Simitian’s district office at 688-6384.
