Scott Ibaraki and Scott Patteson, both of Los Altos, received their Eagle Scout awards at a Boy Scouts of America Troop 31, Eagle Court of Honor ceremony held at Union Presbyterian Church of Los Altos on Dec. 21.

Both boys fulfilled requirements in leadership, service to their community and outdoor skills in achieving the distinguished rank, the highest bestowed by the Boy Scouts.

Ibaraki, a recent Mountain View High School graduate, has been active in scouting since 1995. He received the Arrow of Light award from Los Altos Pack 501 and bridged to Troop 31 in 1998.

For his Eagle project, Ibaraki planned, directed, filmed, edited and produced an instructional video on DVD for the Mountain View High School marching band titled “Marching 101.” The 32-minute video is intended to help new students learn to march and help returning marchers to review marching techniques.

Patteson has been active with Troop 31 since fifth grade, when he entered from Cub Scout Pack 33 at Los Altos United Methodist Church.

For his Eagle Project, the Los Altos High School senior organized and completed a landscaping project outside the remodeled kitchen at the church where the troop meets. Patteson’s project included installing an irrigation system, steps and two retaining walls. Patteson participates in theatrical productions at the high school and Los Altos Youth Theatre.
