Local photographers are showing their works of art at Main Street Cafe & Books in a January exhibition.

Susanne Karlak, 2002 winner of Popular Photography magazine’s national photo contest and a finalist in this year’s Photographer’s Forum contest, is showing her work.

Karlak’s winning image, “Calla Lilies,” is on display through Feb. 3. Karlak, a Saratoga resident and regular participant in the Los Altos Rotary Art Show, has received numerous local, national and international awards.

The Palo Alto Medical Foundation owns an extensive 50-piece collection of her work, displayed throughout the clinic.

Pete Zivkov, photo instructor at the Pacific Art League, and Mathias Van Hesemans, Los Altos scenic photographer, are among 10 other artists joining Karlak in the exhibition.

Van Hesemans, who has a gallery and studio on Main Street in Los Altos, has photographed active volcanoes up close, including Mount St. Helens.

The Los Altos Cultural Association sponsors the invitational to showcase the work of local photographers who have strong regional and national reputations.

Main Street Cafe & Books is at 134 Main St., Los Altos. A photographers’ reception, open to the public, is scheduled 5:30-7 p.m. Feb. 19.
