Los Altos photographer helps save a ‘Smile’
The charitable arm of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) named Heather Lussier Photography in downtown Los Altos a 2012 “Operation Smile Studio.” Operation Smile is a nonprofit organization of medical professionals and support staff who provide free surgeries for children around the world who suffer with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.
Los Altos resident Lussier is a Certified Professional Photographer and one of 48 PPA members to earn the designation for 2012. Photographers who donated $240 or more to Operation Smile became eligible for the organization’s first “Celebration of Smiles Day.”
“To be able to give back through a great organization like PPA is really a win-win situation,” Lussier said. “It helps children in need and helps bring in new business.”

Sonneman named meeting pro of the year
The Meeting Professionals International Northern California Chapter named Marilee Sonneman, daughter of Los Altos resident Marian Sonneman, Meeting Professional of the Year.
With more than 17 years of corporate and destination management company experience, Sonneman founded Spotlight Events Consulting Inc. in 2010. She previously served as managing director of a San Francisco boutique destination management company and as senior account executive at Northern California’s largest destination management company.
Sonneman is a Certified Meeting Professional and Certified Destination Management Professional through the Association of Destination Management Executives International.
