Los Altos Hills’ own Jon M. Chu, now an A-List Hollywood film director, continues to make the news with high-profile announcements.
His “Wicked” film adaptation took home two awards at the 97th Academy Awards Sunday, including Best Costume Design (Paul Tazewell) and Best Production Design (Nathan Crowley; Set Decoration: Lee Sandales). The film was nominated for 10 Oscars.
This comes on the heels of a recent announcement that Chu plans to revive his 2018 blockbuster, “Crazy Rich Asians,” as a television series on Max. A follow-up to “Wicked” also is in the works.
Chu is the son of Larry Chu Sr. and brother of Larry Chu Jr., both of Chef Chu’s restaurant fame.
