Los Altos High administrators reiterated the school’s dedication to creating a safe space for everyone after a student found and reported a chalk swastika another student drew Monday afternoon.

In a message to the school community, Principal Tracey Runeare said the swastika, drawn on a ledge on the school campus, was removed by school personnel. Administrators investigated, identified the student responsible for the hate symbol, and took “appropriate action.”

“We respond to these matters with the utmost urgency,” Runeare stated in the message. “We will not tolerate acts of hate or antisemitism on our campus and are most appreciative to those who report concerning matters to us.”
