Mountain View Police announced the arrests – the result of a joint investigation of the city’s fire and police departments – in a press release issued Tuesday (March 25).
Police apprehended Brandon Pak and Gilbert Gomes, both 18, and a dozen juveniles whose names are not being released because they are minors. The suspects include several Mountain View and Los Altos residents, many of whom attend surrounding high schools and a local college.
According to investigators, the house had been used, beginning March 7, for “multiple large parties with heavy drug and alcohol use” while the homeowners were away on vacation.
In addition, a 2003 Audi A4 was stolen from the residence. It has since been recovered.
Investigators said three minors started a fire inside the residence and were unable to extinguish it. Detectives served multiple search warrants in Mountain View and Los Altos, resulting in the arrests. Police said they expect more arrests as the investigation continues.
Pak is charged with burglary, child endangerment and allegedly providing marijuana to juveniles.
Gomes is also charged with burglary and child endangerment.
