Council vote on dog park turf was commendable
Reviewing the Town Crier’s front page article in the Oct. 22, 2025 edition, “Los Altos City Council returns Hillview Dog Park to the outreach stage,” I wanted to lend a voice of support for the 4-1 vote. The council members clearly listened to the environmental and health concerns of the community, did their own research and factored new information to come to the conclusion that the installation of artificial turf needed to be reevaluated considering the environmental and health hazards. Further, I want to commend the council for requesting the Environmental Commission look into a turf policy for the city. This action very directly aligns with the city’s 2022 Climate Action and Adaptation Plan goals and the direction of many other Bay Area cities.
