El Camino Hospital officials appointed Larry Feder president of the El Camino Hospital Foundation, effective July 1. Feder’s appointment follows a nationwide search instigated after Jonathan Friedenberg left his positions as vice president of the hospital and foundation president Jan. 4.
Feder brings more than 25 years’ experience in fundraising and foundation development at some of the nation’s top health-care organizations.
“We are excited to have found a person of such caliber and experience to lead the El Camino Hospital Foundation,” said Phyllis Dorricott, chairwoman of the foundation search committee and past president of the foundation’s board of directors. “He will be a very good fit for the goals we have identified in our new three- to five-year strategic plan.”
As vice president of the Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation in Tampa, Fla., Feder was instrumental in raising $75 million for the center over the past four years. He was associate vice president for development at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, D.C.; vice president of the foundation at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, raising more than $200 million; and national director of development for the City of Hope National Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Feder steps into the position, poised to earn between $170,000 and $254,000, an increased salary range El Camino’s board of directors approved May 25. El Camino Communications Manager Judy Twitchell anticipated that the first public reporting of Feder’s base pay will follow the November/December board of directors meeting.
Feder earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Antioch University and certification as a Certified Financial Planner from the University of Southern California.
“Larry will help the foundation play a major role in ensuring that El Camino Hospital remain the elite hospital it is in terms of medical technology and quality of patient care,” said Robert Adams, president of the foundation’s board of directors. “We look forward to working with Larry to achieve those goals.”
