The Rotary Club of Los Altos will present its 50th year of Fine Art in the Park in beautiful Lincoln Park on Saturday, Aug. 9 and Sunday, Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This popular show features outstanding artwork, jewelry, clothing, photography, food, music and great fun.

But more than that, the proceeds from last year’s 2025 Fine Art in the Park gave cash grants to a wide range of Los Altos Rotary’s local and international charities. This cycle of giving will continue after proceeds from the 2025 show are distributed to worthy beneficiaries.

Some of Los Altos Rotary’s 2025 local grantees include the following:

1.     Avenidas: to support its popular programs for seniors, especially for disadvantaged seniors who need support with rent, medications and caregiving.

2.     Camp Kaleidoscope: to provide a weeklong summer camp for children whose parents suffer from cancer.

3.     The Day Worker Center of Mountain View: to provide healthy meals for low-income seniors.

4.     KARA: to support Camp Kara for children who have experienced the death of a family member.

5.     The Los Altos History Museum: to support their program to transcribe and archive the museum’s oral histories.

6.     The Los Altos Stage Company: to fund youth theatre and musicals.

7.     Jasper Ridge Farm: to provide animal-assisted therapy to aid veterans with PTSD and other emotional injuries.

8.     Pacific Hearing Connection: to purchase equipment for and provide mobile hearing services to homeless and low-income seniors.

9.     The Community School of Music and Arts: to provide free, community concert series.

The Los Altos Rotary Club also partners with international Rotary clubs and Rotary International to make grants to international beneficiaries, such as these:

1.     The Karat School in Ivory Coast, Africa, concurrently educates girls at the Karat School and trains their mothers to become entrepreneurial, financially independent farmers. These programs have raised the skills and status of girls and women in a patriarchal culture.

2.     Save a Girl, another international grantee, founded by former Los Altos High School teacher Robert Freeman, aims to keep adolescent girls in school in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

3.     In an Iraqi village, displaced Yezidie girls participate in breeding and selling a variety of poultry. The proceeds allow girls to attend school and feed themselves and other villagers.

Residents are encouraged to attend this year’s Fine Art in the Park, where they can purchase wonderful art items, enjoy good food and entertainment, and feel confident about supporting good causes.
