The 50th Fine Art in the Park, hosted Aug. 9-10 by the Rotary Club of Los Altos, raised more than $100,000, according to club organizers.

Proceeds from the event benefit the club’s scholarships and grants to community organizations both local and abroad.

“Fine Art in the Park directly supports our club’s grants for local and global projects, a real embodiment of Rotary’s theme: ‘Unite for Good,’” said Crysta Krames, the club’s current president.

Organizers said thousands of people came to Lincoln Park to shop for art, sample food from local restaurants and enjoy live music and dance.

The Sereno Community Stage, new this year, showcased Los Altos’ local talent, but fine art was the real star of the weekend.

Sculptor Michael Gustavson said, “This is a great crowd. There’s a lot of interest in art.” Artist Andy Krumholtz, exhibiting for the first time, was enthusiastic: “This is the best show I’ve ever done.”

Royce Cablayan, the director of Fine Art in the Park, thanked volunteers and artists.

“Almost 200 volunteers are needed for this event, including the Boy Scouts and National Charity League,” he said. “More than 150 exceptional artists participate each year. We couldn’t do this without them. We are truly grateful for 50 years of support.”

“Supporting real art, made by real people, matters,” Krames said. “In a world of algorithms, mass production, and AI-generated stuff, original art connects us back to human creativity, emotion, and perspective. It reminds us that we value imagination, and that beauty, meaning, and craft are worth investing in.”
