Anna Eshoo, the veteran Congresswoman who announced her intention not to seek re-election last November, has endorsed candidate Joe Simitian to take her place in the 16th Congressional district.
Simitian, currently wrapping up his second term as Santa Clara County supervisor in District 5 (including the Los Altos area), announced about a week after her announcement that he would run for Eshoo’s seat in the 2024 general election.“California’s 16th Congressional district is a highly distinguished place,” Eshoo said in a Tuesday (Jan. 10) statement. “This special place calls for and deserves a top notch representative in Congress. … There are many good people who are competing to succeed me in the Congress. I believe there is one who has the ability to best represent us: Joe Simitian. He is a seasoned and effective legislator who has earned the support of over 150 locally elected officials.”
