U.S. Rep. Anna Eshoo welcomed high school student participants in the 2024 Congressional Art Competition to the Los Altos Community Center Wednesday to honor the winners. Several Los Altos High students entered and were among the finalists, with Isabel Sky Yunhee Lee from Los Altos High School earning second place for her entry “What the Future Holds.” Dean Harpaz from Los Altos High created a piece called “Anna’s Hummingbird” and finished in a three-way tie with Paola Reinosa from Sacred Heart Preparatory and Eulina Ji from Branham High School.

Hyunji Park from Leigh High School received first place for “Unified Heart: Bridging World.” Park’s art will be displayed for a year in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol – one of the most traveled areas – for visitors to see.
Park will also be invited to attend a reception in Washington, D.C. for the winners from congressional districts across the country.

Students, teachers, parents and elected officials from the Bay Area came together to see the art, with Eshoo receiving 43 art pieces from students representing 20 high schools in the area as part of the competition, which is sponsored by the Congressional Institute and was launched in 1982, Eshoo’s office said. Some 700,000 students nationwide have participated in the 43 years of the competition.
