Climate Fresk comes to Los Altos Library

Climate Fresk is an interactive game of cards developed in France that is 100% science-based and designed to explore the impact of climate change. In just three hours, players work together to connect causes and effects of climate change, learn about the science from the United Nations panel that has been studying this since 1988, and discuss ways to help. Participants are divided into small groups and are presented cards that they organize into a tabletop mural.

This free event is scheduled 5-8 p.m. May 23 at the Los Altos Library, 13 S. San Antonio Road, and is sponsored by the Green Team from St. Nicholas and St. William Parish and GreenTown Los Altos. Space is limited.

Register at sccl.bibliocommons.com/events.

Back by popular demand for the third year in a row, CSA hosts their annual Homeless Services fundraiser ice cream sundae party in the park.

This year’s event takes place 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Rengstorff Park. Purchase tickets online at csacares.org/events.

Empty Bowls, traditionally a soup supper, became “Sundaes on a Sunday” to create an outdoor take on the worldwide phenomena pairing potters to fundraise for organizations serving the homeless.

Company recruits crossing guards

All City Management Services, a company that provides crossing guards and safety resources at local schools, has immediate openings.

School crossing guards work a shift in the morning before school and in the afternoon after school, protecting local children as they cross busy streets.

Local school crossing guards typically work fewer than two hours per day, divided into a morning and afternoon shift, but are paid for three hours if they work both shifts. Compensation is $20.50 per hour or $61.50 for the whole day. The work is outdoors and on school days only – no nights, weekends or holidays.

Crossing guards are also needed in Mountain View, where the hourly rate is $19.50, or $57.50 for the whole day.
