Historical essay contest under way
The Los Altos History Museum and city of Los Altos have announced the 41st annual Margaret Thompson Historical Essay Contest, inviting young historians from third through sixth grades to participate.
This year, the contest encourages students to explore the rich history and natural beauty of Hidden Villa. Students are asked to begin their journey through the eyes of Hidden Villa founders Frank and Josephine Duveneck.
Students are invited to come to the museum any time noon to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, before March 1, to view the museum’s current Hidden Villa exhibit. For more information on this exhibit, visit losaltoshistory.org/exhibit/rooted-in-time.
Organizers said the annual essay contest aims to deepen young minds’ connection to California’s history and heritage while celebrating the diverse stories that have shaped the state.
