The city of Los Altos is partnering with the Rotary and Kiwanis clubs to sponsor a Red Cross blood drive 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the Los Altos Youth Center, 1 N. San Antonio Road.

According to Red Cross representatives, the shelter-in-place orders brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic have resulted a shortage in blood donations. The local blood drive aims to fill the critical need.

Red Cross blood drive protocols ensure a safe and sanitary experience, providing mandated physical distancing and antiviral-cleansing stations within and immediately outside the youth center. Ample parking is available.

Eligible donors must be in good general health with no disqualifying medical history and a normal temperature reading and not have donated blood within the past 56 days.

Donor appointments will be scheduled at staggered times. Identification is required when donating blood.
