Is there a firearms fixation going on when it comes to choice of performers at the Los Altos Bar & Grill? Following the Aug. 5 performance by Rick Derringer, we await an 8:30 p.m. Thursday appearance by Joe Cannon.
The pop-country performer, as at home imitating country greats as he is performing original tunes, has taken his act from the Palomino Club in North Hollywood to the Elkhorn Saloon in Sun Valley, Idaho. He varies his acts between songs, jokes and impersonations – mostly 1960s and ’70s icons like Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, the Bee Gees and yes, Dean Martin.
“Cannon projects a strong image – powerful, handsome, aggressive,” writes the Sun Valley Times-News. “He is not only a ladies’ man, but a man’s man, too..”
Cannon, who grew up in Rhode Island, currently lives in Los Altos Hills. A sometimes actor, Cannon performed in 14 episodes of “The Virginian.”
Admission to Cannon’s show is free. The Los Altos Bar & Grill is located at 169 Main St., in downtown Los Altos.
