Mountain View residents Bob and Cathy Kauer celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Dec. 2.
In April 1950, Bob took Cathy shark fishing on a blind date and ended up making the catch of his life.
The newlyweds began married life in Cheyenne, Wyo., where Bob was a military police officer with the U.S. Air Force. In 1954, they returned to the Bay Area with daughter Pam (Lehner) in tow, and have lived here ever since, adding son Rick and daughter Judy (Guslani) to the family.
Bob served as detective and motorcycle officer in his career with the Palo Alto Police Department. Cathy worked as a secretary in various Los Altos schools and spent more than a decade as secretary for the assistant superintendent.
The Kauers marked the occasion with their large extended family at the home of their elder daughter, Pam.
Their local family attended, as well as grandsons who flew in from Seattle, Los Angeles and Alabama. Special guests included Cathy’s brother, Dave Montini, and his wife, Mary, from Copperopolis.
