Bike to Wherever Days come to Los Altos this Thursday, Friday and Saturday as part of Bike Month.

To help inspire local residents, the city of Los Altos and the town of Los Altos Hills, along with Safe Routes to Downtown Los Altos, Los Altos Village Association, GreenTown Los Altos, Los Altos Community Investments, Bicycle Outfitters and State Street Market, are teaming up to offer an energizer station by hosting the Third Annual Downtown Los Altos Bike ’n’ Dine on Friday, May 16 from 5-8 p.m.

Participants of all ages are invited to pedal downtown and use GreenTown’s bike valet service at Veterans Community Plaza. After parking at the plaza, cyclists will receive a list of participating downtown restaurants and businesses offering discounts and freebies.

“Dining in downtown Los Altos is always a treat, but it’s even more fun when you arrive on two wheels,” said Shannon Geary of Los Altos Community Investments. “Bike ’n’ Dine is a great way to explore local restaurants, enjoy the community vibe and celebrate sustainable transportation all at once.”

The first 100 residents who register at bit.ly/BnD25 and check in will receive an awesome swag bag full of goodies. The Downtown Los Altos Bike ’n’ Dine is just one of many energizer stations being hosted in Santa Clara County during the May 15-17 Bike to Wherever Days.

On Saturday, May 17, local residents are invited to check out the new bike lanes on El Camino Real by joining Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition’s El Camino Real Ride. Participants will join an organized group riding in a “Bike Bus” – a group of 50+ riders who will stick together along the route. The ride begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Santa Clara Caltrain Station and ends in Menlo Park at Santa Cruz Ave. For anyone wanting to join a Bike Bus exclusively for the Los Altos and Mountain View segment, you are invited to meet in Eagle Park at 650 Franklin St. in Mountain View between 11 and 11:30 a.m.

GreenTown Los Altos is also hosting their ReCycle Bike Drive on Saturday, May 17 at Los Altos High School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can take that gently used bike in your garage and give it a new life by donating it to a great cause. Donated bikes will be fixed up and given to local students in need.

There are so many great ways to celebrate Bike Month and Bike to Wherever Days this weekend. Let’s enjoy this beautiful May weekend together while cruising on two wheels!
