Ted enlisted in the U.S. Marines on Dec. 8, 1941, the day following Pearl Harbor. Jane sewed her own wedding dress for $3.00 and married Ted on March 14, 1942 in St, Louis Park, Minnesota. Ted served in the Pacific and participated in action against enemy forces on Guadalcanal.
After completing his tour of duty Ted returned to St. Paul, Minnesota and was employed by 3 “M” and transferred to San Francisco. After living in South San Francisco, Ted and Jane bought a lot in Los Altos for $1,800.
No curbs, gutters, street lights and no paved streets in the area of the construction of the new house. Apricot trees as far as you could see when the apricot trees were in bloom it was a flower garden!
Jane and Ted had five children Carol, Ted, James, David and Steven.
All of the children were graduated from Los Altos High School. Carol graduated from University of California at Davis. Steven passed away in June 1975.
Jane is a dedicated homemaker and devoted mother. Ted retired from Monsanto Chemical Company in 1984 where he was Western Regional Sales Manager for the Plastics Division for 25 years.
Ted participated in the development and discovery of many of the applications and uses of polyethylane film that is being sold today.
Jane and Ted have traveled the world, from the Great Wall, the Great Barrier Reef and Coober Pedy, Australia (5,000 Greeks digging for opal in the middle of Australia) to South-Island, New Zealand, the North Cape, Norway, to Murmansk, Russia and most of the places in between.
The most recent high adventure was taking the Euro-Star train from London to Paris under the English Channel to France and then to Paris.
Jane and Ted look forward to one more trip to the land of the Greeks, the birthplace of Ted’s father.
This has been a journey of high adventure, exciting times and looking forward to many more anniversaries to come!
EDITORS NOTE: Ted and Jane are world travelers and have dined at some of the finest restaurants all over the world. The restaurant that they mentioned is owned by Claude Terrial who is world renowned for his food and hospitality.
