Los Altos Stage Company’s final show of its 2022-2023 season, “Sunday in the Park with George,” opened last weekend and is slated to run through June 25 at Bus Barn Theater.

Written by Stephen Sondheim (music and lyrics) and James Lapine (book), the musical was inspired by Georges Seurat’s famous painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.” The play merges past and present into truths about life, love and the creation of art.

The Broadway production of the musical won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama and was nominated for 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Alex Perez directs the local production, which stars Rob Cadwallader as George, Alycia Adame as Dot and Michael Rhone as Jules.

Shows are scheduled 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays at Bus Barn, 97 Hillview Ave.

Tickets are $20-$40.
